ΠΗΓΗIsrael can gain commercial freedom by sharing control with Greece 👇 A Line of State policy essay in @geo_trends. An Israeli air-defence system assembled in Greece does not automatically qualify as European. That matters: Europe accounted for 36% of Israel’s record $19.2 billion in defence export agreements in 2025. The EU’s €150 billion SAFE instrument demands more than factories. For advanced systems, European partners must be free to develop and modify products without third-country restrictions. Greece contributes military demand, engineering and technology of its own. Israel brings capabilities Europe needs. New joint programmes can establish development, production and export rights from the outset, while protecting existing Israeli intellectual property. Israel knows the trade-off. American partnerships produced exceptional systems subject to Washington’s export approval. India’s BARAK 8 programme demonstrated the commercial returns from shared development. A Greek partner with export rights can also compete. Yet exclusive Israeli control can shut both partners out of SAFE-financed procurement. Industrial sovereignty is measured by freedom of action, not by vetoes retained. 🔗 https://t.co/10pX4zrvi1
